Hyderabad: On Monday, leaders from the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) threatened to lie down in front of bulldozers if the authorities tried to demolish houses as part of the Musi River development project.

AIMIM corporators, including Mohammed Saleem, Khaja Mubashiruddin, Abdul Khadar, and Nawazuddin, protested outside the Bahadurpura Mandal Revenue Office (MRO) against the planned demolitions along the Musi Riverbed. During the protest, all four corporators were detained by the Bahadurpura police.

Following their detention, Bahadurpura MLA Mohd Mubeen spoke to the media near the Falaknuma police station after securing the release of the corporators. He criticized the alleged forced acquisition of houses in the Kishanbagh and Bahadurpura areas and emphasized the need for justice for the affected residents.

The MLA reassured the public, saying, “All AIMIM party MLAs and corporators stand with the people. No one should fear. If the government tries to demolish homes without addressing compensation and alternative housing, we will be the first to lie down in front of the bulldozers.”

Mubeen also mentioned that a group of AIMIM MLAs had met with Hyderabad Collector Anudeep Durushetty. They urged the collector to follow the 2003 physical survey of the Musi River for any acquisitions. However, the collector stated that a drone survey had been conducted, and houses were marked for demolition based on that. Mubeen insisted that the government must first address the concerns of the people before moving forward with the project.
