Hyderabad: The once-majestic Mushk Mahal, located in Attapur, has now become a hotspot for anti-social activities, causing significant problems for local residents. Frustrated by the situation, they are urging the state government to restore the structure and preserve its historical significance.

For several years, the 350-year-old heritage structure has been neglected. Mushk Mahal, which is spread across six acres of land, is now in a state of disrepair. Half of the land has been encroached upon, and the remaining area is overgrown with bushes. This neglect has allowed illegal activities to flourish in the area, creating a daily source of fear and frustration for the locals.

Mohammed Ahmed, a local resident, expressed his concern, saying, “Mushk Mahal is an important Qutub Shahi palace that should be preserved. There are very few structures left from the Qutub Shahi dynasty. The officials have failed to maintain it, and now illegal activities are increasing. We have raised this issue repeatedly with the authorities, but nothing has been done. At night, it has become dangerous to pass through this area.”

Heritage activist Mohammed Abid Ali added, “The Qutub Shahi heritage structure needs urgent attention. If it’s not protected, it could soon collapse. Only around two acres of land remain, and the rest has been taken over by illegal encroachments. Broken glass and other signs of anti-social behavior are everywhere. Despite our efforts to highlight the condition of Mushk Mahal, no concrete steps have been taken to preserve it.”

Locals and activists alike are hoping that the government will take swift action before the structure is lost forever.
