    Hyderabad: Mayank Mittal, the Executive Director of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewage Board (HMWSSB), visited two important sewage treatment plants (STPs) under construction at Miralam and Nagole on Tuesday.

    During his inspection, Mittal discussed various aspects of the STPs with the officials. He focused on the construction progress, how the plants will function, and the technology being used. He also visited the administrative building and laboratory at the sites.

    This project involves the construction of 31 new sewage treatment plants with a total capacity of 1,259.50 million liters per day (MLD). The entire project is being completed at a cost of Rs 3,866.41 crore, divided into three packages.

    Currently, Hyderabad generates around 1,950 MLD of sewage daily in the urban area, with 1,650 MLDs coming from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area. Presently, only 772 MLDs, or 46 percent of the total sewage, are being treated by 25 existing STPs, according to the senior officer.
