Hyderabad: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is set to help the government tackle challenges in the development and management of the Musi Riverfront. AI will not only monitor the health of the river but also address complaints from citizens.

At a recent AI summit held at HICC, students from Chaitanya Bharati Institute of Technology (CBIT) showcased a 3D model of the Musi Riverfront. They developed this model with support from the Telangana Technological Service (TGTS), and it garnered significant attention during the exhibition.

One of the students, Meghna, explained how AI can be used in various ways to solve problems. She said AI can help detect sewage system leaks, identify garbage, and ensure proper maintenance of sewage systems. AI can also measure factors like pH levels and water clarity (turbidity), which are important for understanding the river’s health.

Meghna also highlighted that AI could be used to develop flood prevention strategies. By analyzing past data and current rainfall information, AI can predict when floods are likely to occur, making it easier to prepare for such events.

The government has decided to rejuvenate the Musi River and develop it similarly to the Thames Riverfront in London. This ambitious project has a budget of Rs 1.5 lakh crore.

Meghna added that AI could also help people resolve their complaints more efficiently. A command center will be set up by the relevant departments to manage this. With AI, monitoring and maintenance will become easier, and officials can track issues from anywhere. Beyond just surveillance, AI will help simplify various tasks.

For instance, Meghna pointed out that locating problems in the sewage system near the Musi River can be time-consuming. However, with AI, officials can input the problem and desired outcomes, and AI will analyze the data and suggest solutions. “AI is the bridge between a problem and solution,” she said.
