Health Minister C Damodar Rajanarasimha announced that the government will lay the foundation stone for a new building at Osmania Hospital within the next month or two. He made this statement on Friday while launching the construction of new hostel blocks for boys and girls at Osmania Medical College in Koti. The new hostel blocks are being built at a cost of Rs 121 crore.
Rajanarasimha highlighted that the government has successfully secured funds for the new Osmania Hospital, which will be built on 32 acres and feature modern facilities. He pointed out that the previous government was unable to accomplish this task ten years ago, but now, despite a court case, the decision to build the hospital has been well-received by many.
The Health Minister emphasized that while governments come and go, their actions for the people remain important. He reiterated that the foundation stone for the new Osmania Hospital will be laid in the coming months.
Rajanarasimha praised Osmania Medical College, calling it a “brand” that is recognized across the country. He mentioned that Osmania and Hyderabad are often associated with each other and congratulated the Junior Doctors Association (JUDAs) for resolving long-pending issues that had been unresolved for the past 30 years.
The minister also stressed the need for government hospitals to develop in a way that allows them to compete with private hospitals. He reminded medical professionals that their profession should be service-oriented, urging them to work with patience, care, and commitment. He added that recent transfers within the government healthcare system were aimed at strengthening the overall structure.
Later, both the Health Minister and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar distributed appointment papers to 282 newly-selected lab technicians in the Public Health Department. Rajanarasimha congratulated the new technicians and noted that they were about to begin their professional careers. He also mentioned that a notification had been issued to appoint 1,284 doctors, who will receive their appointment papers soon.
The Health Minister concluded by reminding the new lab technicians of the crucial role they play in the healthcare system. He advised them to manage their responsibilities properly and follow professional ethics, as the quality of their work directly affects patient care and treatment outcomes.
