    Hyderabad: The World Trade Centre (WTC) in Shamshabad hosted a welcome reception on Wednesday for the speakers, delegates, and other guests attending the Global AI Summit 2024. The event took place at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC).

    The Telangana Global AI Summit, organized by the State government, is a two-day event starting today. The summit will feature over 60 speakers, including 18 international ones, and is expected to attract around 2,000 delegates.

    During the welcome remarks, Jayesh Ranjan, the Special Secretary of IT, highlighted the importance of the summit. He mentioned that the discussions initiated during the first edition of the Global AI Summit will continue after the event. He also noted that one of the first decisions made after the new government was formed was to host an AI summit. This summit aims to educate, collaborate, and communicate the government’s aspirations. He added that multiple discussions and engagements with stakeholders will take place over the next four years following the summit.

    Jayesh Ranjan also expressed gratitude to WTC Shamshabad for dedicating space for AI-related companies in their upcoming mini smart city.

    D Sridhar Babu, the guest of honor and IT Minister of Telangana, said that the government plans to use the AI Summit to guide the development of the AI City and establish Telangana as the AI capital of the world. He explained that when the government was formed, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and the IT team considered how to take advantage of the ongoing technological disruption. They decided to embrace the disruption and leverage cutting-edge technology to advance the state.

    The IT Minister further mentioned that the knowledge gained from experts during the two-day summit will be used to develop the AI City and will be shared globally.

    Robin Van Puyenbroeck, Executive Director of the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA) in New York, spoke about WTC’s commitment to contributing to the city’s growth, particularly in the upcoming “future city.” He emphasized Hyderabad’s technological strengths and the state’s progress towards becoming a leader in IT.

    Other notable attendees at the reception included Aditya Bajoria, Partner at EY; Deepanwita C, CEO of IKP Knowledge Park; Gareth O Wyn, Deputy British High Commissioner; Manila Datla, Chairman of FICCI Telangana; JA Chowdhary, former Advisor to the Government of Andhra Pradesh; Nakul Daliwal, Telangana Representative at IFCCI; and Srini Chandupatla, President of TiE Hyderabad.

    The event also featured a soft launch of the upcoming WTC Shamshabad mini smart city.
