Khammam: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy strongly criticized the BRS leaders on Monday night. He accused them of indulging in “mud politics” during times of calamity. Reddy urged the Leader of Opposition, K Chandrashekar Rao, to step out of his farmhouses and visit flood-affected areas to understand the people’s suffering.

During a review meeting with officials at the Khammam collectorate, Reddy emphasized the importance of unity between the ruling and opposition parties during difficult times like calamities. He pointed out that such unity is crucial to securing funds from the Centre.

Reddy compared the situation in Telangana with neighboring states, where opposition leaders are actively visiting affected areas. He said, “The Leader of the Opposition in our State should also be making field visits and questioning the government. Yet, you neither visit nor speak up. It seems like you don’t want to be the main Opposition leader. You claim to be the leader of Telangana, but when the state is in trouble, you remain silent.”

He also mentioned that former Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu had offered to provide funds in the past. Reddy accused K Chandrashekar Rao of looting Rs 1 lakh crore but not even contributing Rs 1,000 crore during the current crisis. He criticized the Rao family for engaging in what he called “muddy politics.”

The Chief Minister also targeted BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR). He criticized KTR for making comments on Twitter while being in America with his friends. “KTR is enjoying his personal life in America and speaking against ministers who are working hard in rain-affected areas in Khammam. Such comments will do no good for the people. It is better to leave this ‘cheap politics’ behind,” Reddy remarked.

Reddy stressed that the government’s focus is on easing the difficulties faced by the people, not on playing politics. He informed that 34 camps have been established in Khammam, and 2,119 families have been relocated to these camps.

The Chief Minister asked the district collector to provide details of employees who failed to be on duty during the rescue operations. He suggested that if the Centre could declare the floods as a national calamity, the State could use the funds for new roads and railway lines. He also advised the collector to utilize the services of Fire Services personnel and officials from other districts if needed.
