The Chairman and Managing Director of Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (TSSPDCL), Musharraf Faruqui, announced on Friday that cable operators and internet service providers must remove unnecessary cables and other items from electric poles immediately. If they fail to do so, strict action will be taken against them.

Several meetings were already held on July 27, August 7, and August 28 to inform cable operators and internet service providers about the need to remove these cables. In the meeting on August 7, operators were specifically instructed to organize cables according to regulations. They were given one week to do this on main roads and two weeks for other roads.

However, some cable operators and internet service providers have not cooperated with the removal process, despite the agreements made during these meetings. In the Greater Hyderabad area, many dangerous incidents have occurred due to cables, cable bundles, and telecom equipment hanging from electric poles. This poor cable management has caused problems for the public and pedestrians. There have been electric short circuits, leading to power outages, and the extra weight on the poles is causing them to bend. Additionally, the electricity staff is facing difficulties performing maintenance work on these poles due to the cables.

Musharraf Faruqui emphasized that sufficient time has been given to these companies to avoid inconveniencing their users. However, in some areas, cable removal has not yet started. If the companies do not complete the removal process as agreed, the Energy Department will step in and remove the cables themselves.
