Telangana has been hit by heavy rainfall since Friday midnight, causing major disruptions across the state. Many areas are experiencing power outages, and residents are facing difficulties due to the nonstop rain that continued into the morning. The severe weather has also brought traffic to a halt in several locations, affecting people as they tried to get to their offices.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Telangana over the weekend, expecting heavy to very heavy rainfall in multiple districts. On Saturday, intense rain is predicted in regions such as Adilabad, Karimnagar, and Warangal. Khammam is also expected to see heavy rainfall on Sunday. The IMD has further warned that additional heavy rains could occur on September 2 and 3.

In Hyderabad, the heavy rains have caused flooding in low-lying areas. Neighborhoods such as Kukatpally, Lingampally, and Banjara Hills are dealing with significant waterlogging. Many roads have become impassable due to stagnant rainwater, worsening traffic conditions throughout the city.
Officials from the IMD report that the southwest monsoon is expected to continue until the end of September, with similar weather likely extending into October. The ongoing rains have also led to school holidays being announced in Andhra Pradesh due to the challenging weather conditions.
