Gadwal: Leaders of the All-Party Committee visited Durga Nagar School in Ieeza Municipality, located in Jogulamba Gadwal district, to assess the school’s conditions. During their visit, they discovered several worrying issues that could affect the students’ education.

The school currently has only four teachers to manage 128 students. With just two classrooms available, five different grades of students are being combined into shared spaces. The leaders expressed their concern over the severe lack of facilities, which they believe is pushing students away from education.

The school is also severely lacking in basic amenities. There are no proper restrooms for either teachers or students. The situation is especially difficult for students in grades one to five, who have to study together in cramped, combined classrooms because of the shortage of space. The leaders were shocked to see that students are being taught in such overcrowded and unsuitable conditions.

Adding to the concerns, the classroom that was initially built to serve as the school kitchen is now filled with cement dust. Despite these conditions, students are forced to sit and study there. The leaders found this to be alarming. The school grounds are also littered with stones, debris, and waste, which poses a serious safety risk. Teachers at the school are worried that snakes could easily enter the area because of the unclean environment.

A restroom was recently constructed at the front of the school, right next to a classroom. However, students are unable to use it, which is frustrating for them. When the leaders contacted the Mandal Education Officer (MEO) to discuss these issues, they were told that an inspection would be carried out the next day. The Assistant Engineer (AE) responsible for planning the restroom explained that it had to be built in that location due to a lack of space elsewhere.

The leaders were further dismayed to find that the school’s restrooms are being used to store firewood and cooking supplies. This only adds to the list of problems. The All-Party Committee leaders expressed deep disappointment over the current state of the school and urged the District Education Officer to visit Durga Nagar School. They demanded that the school be provided with the necessary number of classrooms, along with proper restrooms, clean water facilities, and a playground for the students.

Participants in this visit included All-Party Committee leaders Nagar Doddi Venkat Ramulu, Morugu Veeresh, Chakali Anjaneyulu, MRPS Anjaneyulu, Nandyala Srinivasulu, Ashwa Mareppa, and others.
