Union Minister Reviews Upgradation Works at Secunderabad Railway Station

Hyderabad: On Saturday, Minister of State for Railways, Ravneet Singh, visited the Secunderabad Railway Station to review its major upgradation plans.

According to officials from the South Central Railway (SCR), 27% of the upgradation work at Secunderabad Railway Station has already been completed. The station is undergoing a significant transformation at an estimated cost of around Rs 700 crore. The entire project is expected to be completed by 2026.

The Minister mentioned that once the redevelopment is complete, the station will boast modern architecture and world-class amenities for passengers. He emphasized that the project demonstrates the government’s commitment to improving passenger experiences by modernizing infrastructure. The goal is to blend the station’s historical importance with modern design, ensuring both safety and comfort.

Secunderabad Railway Station will be completely transformed to match the standards of airports, reflecting the aspirations of a New India. Key features will include a spacious roof plaza, cafeterias, recreational facilities, and retail shops promoting local products.

Additionally, the Minister noted that 119 railway stations across the South Central Railway zone are being developed under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The total expenditure for these developments exceeds Rs 5000 crore.

Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager of SCR, added that four major railway terminals in the twin city area are set to undergo significant changes. Besides Secunderabad and Charlapalli, the development proposals for the Hyderabad and Kacheguda railway stations are in their final stages.
