Hyderabad: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has decided to make a significant change in the leadership of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC). B Mahesh Kumar Goud, who is currently the TPCC working president, is expected to be named the new president, replacing A Revanth Reddy.
Goud, who belongs to the Backward Classes (BC), is also known to be a close ally of the Chief Minister. An official announcement regarding his appointment is expected soon. This decision was made after several discussions involving AICC President Mallikarjuna Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, CM Revanth Reddy, Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, and other senior leaders from the state.
The party leadership felt it was important to choose a leader from North Telangana to maintain a balance between the northern and southern parts of the state. Mahesh Kumar Goud hails from Nizamabad in North Telangana, while the outgoing president, Revanth Reddy, is from Mahbubnagar in South Telangana.
Several senior leaders were considered for the position, including Madhu Yashki Goud, P Balaram Naik, and A Lakshman. However, the party ultimately decided to go with Revanth Reddy’s suggestion to appoint Mahesh Goud as the new Telangana Congress president.
In addition to the leadership change, the party high command has also approved the expansion of the state Cabinet. This expansion is expected to take place within a week. Senior Congress leaders and MLAs such as P Sudharshan Reddy, Malreddy Ranga Reddy, Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy, Gaddam Vivek, Srihari Mudiraj, and Balu Naik are likely to be included in Revanth Reddy’s Cabinet.
There are currently six vacant ministerial positions, and they are expected to be filled all at once. The Chief Minister has already finalized the list of new Cabinet members and has submitted it to Mallikarjun Kharge for final approval during a meeting on Friday.
