The Dr. MCR HRD Institute in Hyderabad has launched a new training course for Egyptian commercial diplomats. This course focuses on foreign trade and investment. It started on August 12 and is sponsored by the Ministry of External Affairs under the ITEC programme.
Dr. Shashank Goel, the Director-General of the institute, was the chief guest at the course’s opening. He shared that international trade allows countries to reach larger markets beyond their own borders. This helps increase demand for their goods and services, leading to higher production and economic growth. Similarly, foreign investment brings in outside capital for new projects, technology, business expansion, and better infrastructure, creating jobs and increasing income levels.
The course offers practical insights from experts in government, academia, and industry. It focuses on identifying products and services for export, especially in the pharma, food processing, automobile, and IT sectors. It also covers export and import procedures, the role of e-commerce in cross-border trade, and developing negotiation skills for dealing with foreign partners.
Besides classroom lectures, the course includes field visits to industrial parks, special economic zones, and manufacturing hubs. These visits help diplomats understand India’s efforts in promoting international trade and investment. Additionally, they will visit places of historical significance to learn about India’s rich culture and heritage.
Dr. Goel emphasized that the course will equip Egyptian diplomats with tools to promote trade and attract foreign investment. It will also empower them to contribute to policy-making, enhancing Egypt’s global trade and investment relationships.
During the event, Dr. Goel released the course manual. Dr. Madhavi Ravulapati, the course director, mentioned that the institute has been recognized by the Ministry of External Affairs. Recently, they organized training programs for South Africa, Vietnam, and Sri Lanka. She added that more training programs for international audiences are planned for the future.
