Tourists Disappointed as Telangana Launches Halted

Thousands of tourists visiting Nagarjunasagar from Telangana returned disappointed over the weekend. On Saturday, launches from the Telangana side were stopped, while those from the Andhra Pradesh side continued without any issues. This resulted in a significant loss of revenue for Telangana’s tourism sector.

Recently, the launch station was moved from Vijaya Vihar to Down Park, which is located near the earth dam. NSP officials frequently travel between the dam and this station. They had previously requested that the launches be moved back to Vijaya Vihar due to problems caused by tourist vehicles and open urinals.

On Saturday morning, owing to a flood of 4 lakh cusecs from upstream, dam authorities decided not to allow the launches to operate. This decision raised questions since there have been instances when launches operated even with 6 lakh cusecs of floodwater.

Tourists expressed their frustration, questioning why launches were stopped in Telangana while Andhra Pradesh operations continued. They sought answers from officials, asking if Telangana faced a different flood risk compared to Andhra Pradesh, but received no response.
