NagarKurnool: As part of Breastfeeding Week, which runs from the 1st to the 7th of this month, the District Medical and Health Department held a health awareness event. This event took place on Saturday at the Anganwadi center in Manganur village, located in Bijinapally Mandal.
Dr. A. Srinivasulu, a Program Officer and Women’s Medical Specialist, spoke at the event. He discussed the importance of breast milk, when it should be given, and hygiene practices for mothers.
Dr. Srinivasulu emphasized that health workers, ASHA workers, and Anganwadi workers should regularly educate pregnant and lactating women about these topics.
District Immunization Officer, Dr. K. Ravikumar Naik, highlighted the need to ensure every newborn gets immunized. He noted that the District Medical and Health Department provides free life-saving vaccines to infants and children, as recommended by the World Health Organization.
Dr. Naik also advised against neglecting vaccinations for adolescents. He reminded everyone that free life-saving vaccines are available at all health sub-centers for every child.
Dr. Krishnamohan, a Non-Communicable Program Officer, suggested several health management precautions, particularly for those with high blood pressure and diabetes.
The event saw participation from various health supervisors, including Shashikala and Balamani, as well as Manganur health staff T. Yadagiri, Jyoti, Anganwadi staff Suguna, Mamatha, ASHA workers, and many pregnant and lactating women along with children.
