Hyderabad: Union Minister of Coal and Mines, G Kishan Reddy, highlighted the importance of water as a valuable natural resource. He emphasized that using mine water effectively can help address the environmental impacts of mining. This approach can turn a potential problem into an opportunity for positive change.

The minister shared these thoughts while releasing guidelines for rejuvenating traditional water bodies in coal and lignite mining areas. The event took place in the national capital with Satish Chandra Dubey, Minister of State for Coal and Mines, and Amrit Lal Meena, Secretary of the Ministry of Coal, also in attendance.

Kishan Reddy explained that new strategies are being implemented, such as allowing self-help groups to run floating restaurants on water-filled mine pits. These floating restaurants create economic opportunities for local communities and boost local tourism.
