Former MLA Dr. SA Sampath Kumar, who is also the Secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), has taken a big step to help farmers. On Saturday, he led the release of water into the Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme (RDS) canal at Sindhanur. This is great news for farmers in the Alampur constituency as they get ready for the Kharif cultivation season.
Dr. Kumar lifted the canal gate amid a crowd of excited farmers, allowing water to flow into the RDS canal. This release of water is expected to revive the farmlands, making sure they are well-watered and ready for planting.
Despite the Krishna River flowing at full capacity, farmers in the Nadigadda area are facing severe water shortages. The main reservoirs in Gadwal and Alampur constituencies, which are crucial for farming, are either empty or drying up fast, causing a lot of worry among local farmers.
Key reservoirs like Ryalam Padu, Guddem Doddi, Tati Kunta, Nagardoddi, Muchochoni Palli, and Chinnoni Palli, which are part of the Nettampadu Lift Irrigation Scheme, have been hit hard. The issue of empty reservoirs remains a big problem.
Speaking to the gathered crowd, Dr. Kumar said, “We know our farmers are facing critical water shortages. We are working tirelessly to meet their agricultural needs.”
Farmers and government officials are now hoping that the reservoirs in Gadwal and Alampur constituencies will be filled using the available water from the Krishna River.
