Hyderabad: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) is unhappy with the Telangana government’s budget for education. They asked the State government to increase the budget allocation to 30 percent.
ABVP State Secretary, Chinthakayala Jhansi, said students are disappointed with the small budget for education.
She mentioned that there are 13 universities in the State. However, the budget allocated Rs 100 crore each to Osmania University and Women’s University, and the remaining amount was shared among other universities.
Student unions criticized the budget for not providing enough funds for government schools, colleges, and university buildings, which are in poor condition.
They also pointed out that the budget did not address the Rs 7,000 crore in fee reimbursement arrears and pending scholarships for students.
