Hyderabad: The State government is focusing on tackling drug problems and cybercrime. It has allocated a large amount of money, ₹9,564 crore, to the Home department for the 2024-2025 budget.

Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka presented the budget and called drug use a “dangerous epidemic.” He promised to protect the youth, especially students, from drugs. He stressed that law and order are crucial for public safety and attracting international investments.

The government has a multi-pronged strategy to fight drugs. The Telangana Anti-Narcotics wing will get more resources and better facilities. The government is following a zero-tolerance policy against drugs. This means they will be very strict with drug trafficking and consumption.

Anti-Drug Committees have been set up in schools and colleges. About 4,137 students have been appointed as Anti-Drug Soldiers. The government plans to work with film celebrities to raise awareness about the dangers of drugs. They want to assure parents that their children are safe and aim to make Telangana a drug-free state.

Cybercrime is also a big challenge. The Cyber Security department recently received new vehicles to help the police deal with cybercriminals. The government is training the police in modern crime investigation techniques.

All police stations in Telangana will now be able to register cybercrime complaints. This will make it easier for people to report such incidents. A public awareness campaign will be launched to educate people about cybercrime. They will also encourage online complaint registration through a dedicated website and a toll-free number.
