Telangana Assembly Pays Tribute to Former Cantonment MLA Lasya Nandita
The Telangana Assembly paid tributes to former Cantonment MLA Lasya Nandita on Tuesday.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy expressed his sorrow over the loss of Lasya Nandita and G Sayanna, who both worked hard for the Cantonment area. He mentioned that it was unfortunate they were not present when the issues they fought for were being resolved. The government, he assured, would continue their development projects. Revanth Reddy fondly remembered his close relationship with Sayanna, who served as an MLA five times before his death. Lasya, Sayanna’s daughter, took over his responsibilities and was also a corporator while her father was alive.
Revanth Reddy highlighted the tragic end of Lasya Nandita, who died in a car accident on the Outer Ring Road. He emphasized her family’s strong connection with the community and noted Sayanna’s dedication to public welfare. He recalled how Sayanna frequently raised issues like road closures when he was a Defence Committee member. Revanth Reddy promised that the government would complete the projects initiated by the late MLAs.
BRS MLA KT Rama Rao also shared his grief, saying some incidents deeply affect the heart. He talked about the friendship between Sayanna and Mutha Gopal and mentioned Sayanna’s wish for his daughter to become a corporator from Kavadiguda, which she achieved with BRS’s support. Rao lamented the fate that took both father and daughter within a year, emphasizing the loss for their family.
Legislative Affairs Minister D Sridhar Babu remarked that the loss was significant not only for the family but also for the people of Cantonment. A Maheshwar Reddy recalled that Nandita became an MLA at a young age with a promising future, making her absence even more painful.
BRS MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav highlighted the family’s dedication to public service, stating that Sayanna was synonymous with Cantonment. Another BRS MLA, M Rajashekhar Reddy, requested a house site for Sayanna’s family. Congress member Makhan Singh Raj Thakur noted that despite being an MLA for several terms, Sayanna’s family remained financially modest, reflecting their simple lifestyle.
Other members, including AIMIM member Md Abdullah Balala, CPI member K Sambasiva Rao, MLA Sri Ganesh, Payal Shankar, M Gopal, and KP Vivekanand, also spoke about Lasya Nandita, sharing their condolences and memories.
