Gadwal: In an important move to support temple priests, the Dhupa Deepa Naivedya Archaka Association has made a new appointment. Chakravarti Achari is now the President of the Jogulamba Gadwal District Priests’ Association.
The appointment letter was given to Achari by Vasu Deva Sharma, the State President of the association, during a ceremony in Aiza town of Alampur Taluka.
Chakravarti Achari is the Chief Priest of Sri Dhanwanthari Venkateswara Swami Temple in Uttanur. He was honored for his dedication and hard work. Achari has been a strong advocate for the rights and welfare of temple priests, especially those working in old temples in remote villages.
He has worked to secure minimum wages for priests who often performed their duties for little or no pay.
The ceremony featured several esteemed guests such as State Chief Secretary Anna Vajjula Prasad Sharma and Vanaparthi District President Laxman. They praised Achari’s contributions and expressed their confidence in his leadership abilities.
The Dhupa Deepa Naivedya Archaka Association had earlier started efforts to place temple priests in formal roles with proper wages. The appointment of Achari as district president continues these efforts, aiming to provide better support and recognition to temple priests.
In his acceptance speech, Chakravarti Achari thanked everyone for the appointment. He promised to work hard for the welfare of his fellow priests and called for continued support from the government and the community.
The event marks a new beginning for the Dhupa Deepa Naivedya Archaka Association in Jogulamba Gadwal District. There are high hopes for significant improvements in the conditions and recognition of temple priests under Achari’s leadership.
