Heavy rains in Andhra Pradesh have caused flooding in parts of the state, including East and West Godavari, Visakhapatnam, and Bapatla districts. The Chief Minister, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, held a video conference with officials to review the situation and ensure the safety of citizens.
Naidu blamed the previous government for weakening embankments along the Godavari River due to illegal sand mining. He emphasized the importance of monitoring water levels in reservoirs and rivers to prevent further damage.
Home Minister Vangalapudi Anita also urged district officials to take precautionary measures to minimize the impact on the public. Several villages in Eluru district are flooded, and the water level in the Godavari River is rising rapidly.
In response to the heavy rainfall, educational institutions in Visakhapatnam district have been closed, and authorities have set up control rooms in every district to assist residents in low-lying areas.
