Justice L Narasimha Reddy, who was leading an inquiry into power purchase agreement irregularities in Telangana, has resigned from his position. The Supreme Court noted that the probe lacked procedural fairness and Reddy decided to step down.

During a hearing, the Chief Justice expressed concern over the judge’s opinion on the case and the state government assured the court that a new commission would be formed soon. Reddy clarified that a press conference was held to address inaccurate media reports and maintain the integrity of the judicial system.

Despite nearly completing the report, Reddy chose to resign as chairman and discard the findings. He refuted claims that he had summoned the former CM K Chandrasekhar Rao, explaining that only letters were sent seeking his input.

The controversy began when Reddy announced irregularities in June and faced backlash from KCR, who petitioned for his removal. The Chief Justice emphasized the importance of impartiality in the inquiry process and urged the state government to appoint a new judge for the commission.
