In Hyderabad, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has instructed police officials to crack down on drug smuggling and closely monitor the movement of suspected foreigners in response to a rise in arrests of foreign nationals involved in drug smuggling cases.

During a conference with collectors and SPs, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of maintaining law and order, directing officers not to compromise and to maintain a friendly relationship with victims rather than criminals. He also ordered the Commissioners of Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda to set closing times for pubs and ensure no restrictions for street food vendors at night, considering the night working culture in the IT sector.

Revanth Reddy urged top police officers to conduct regular crime reviews, field inspections, and focus on curbing drug and cyber crimes. He emphasized the need for coordination between police, excise, and TG NAB officers to tackle the issue of narcotic drug smuggling, particularly among foreigners caught in drug cases. The Chief Minister also proposed using Cherlapalli open-air jail for admitting drug addicts to de-addiction centers in the future.

To improve the income of Tribals and increase green cover, Revanth Reddy suggested planting fruit trees on forest lands. He encouraged Tribals to plant fruit-bearing trees like mango, guava, and custard apple on their own lands to generate regular income. Additionally, he called for the development of forest tourism in Adilabad district to attract tourists, following the success of Tiger safari in Maharashtra’s Tadoba forest area.

The Chief Minister stressed the importance of long-term planning for plantation initiatives, urging Collectors to visit forest areas monthly. To address land availability issues, officials were advised to plant Palm and Indian Palm date trees along project embankments, canal embankments, and roads. Revanth Reddy suggested planting hybrid saplings to provide income for toddy tappers within a few years.
