The Cherlapally railway terminal is almost complete and expected to open in August. Daily passengers and travel association members are urging South Central Railways to extend MMTS services to Cherlapally and arrange for important express trains to stop there.
Some commuters and travel association members have pointed out that Cherlapally lacks good transportation options. They suggest extending MMTS services to Cherlapally from various locations and starting more northbound, southbound, and westbound trains. The Railways and TGSRTC should work together to plan transportation for passengers arriving at different trains.
The new Cherlapally railway terminal is nearing completion and will open to the public soon. Once operational, many trains are expected to start running from Cherlapally, easing congestion at existing busy railway stations. The new station, costing Rs 430 crore, will have top-notch facilities like the airport.
The new station building is almost ready, with modern infrastructure in place. It will have separate waiting halls for men and women, booking counters, an executive lounge, a cafeteria, and more. The station will also be part of the MMTS Phase II project, with additional platforms and foot-over bridges being built.
All nine platforms at the station will have escalators and lifts for easy access. Coach maintenance facilities will also be available to support the starting of trains from the station. Noor Ahmed Ali, President of the Long Train and MMTS Travellers Association, is advocating for the extension of MMTS trains to Cherlapally for better connectivity.
