Akbaruddin Owaisi, a popular leader in Hyderabad, started his political career at 29 years old with the guidance of his father. He is currently serving as an MLA for the sixth term. Known for his bold speeches criticizing both the State and Central governments, Akbar is a fiery leader loved by many in Hyderabad.
In 2011, Akbar was attacked in the Old City, leading him to express gratitude to the people of Hyderabad, especially women who prayed for his well-being. He established the Salar-e-Millat Educational Trust, which operates Owaisi Schools of Excellence providing free education to over 20,000 students in Hyderabad.
Born on June 14, 1970, Akbar completed his Intermediate at St Mary’s Junior College and studied MBBS before entering politics. He followed in his father’s footsteps, becoming a youth leader in the party at a young age. In 1999, he won the Chandrayangutta seat at 29 years old, defeating the MBT candidate.
Despite facing opposition from Congress, BJP, and MBT in the 2018 and 2023 elections, Akbar has remained victorious. He was appointed Chairman of Telangana Public Accounts Committee in 2019 and served as pro-tem Speaker in December 2023.
