Cyberabad Traffic Police recently conducted a large-scale drunk driving test in the Cyberabad Commissionerate limits. During the test, over 996 offenders were apprehended for driving under the influence of alcohol, with a focus on curbing drunk driving in the IT corridor, especially during weekends.

Due to an increase in alcohol-related crashes in Cyberabad, the traffic police have been cracking down on intoxicated drivers. In a recent enforcement drive, 262 offenders were caught on a Saturday night. This marked the third consecutive weekend of such crackdowns, with a total of 996 offenders nabbed in the past three weeks.

The police organized a special large-scale drive with 28 teams to monitor drunk driving. While regular checks are conducted, these special drives are held occasionally due to logistical issues. During the recent test, 191 two-wheeler drivers, 11 three-wheeler drivers, 56 four-wheeler drivers, and four heavy vehicle drivers were caught. Twelve offenders had blood alcohol concentrations exceeding the legal limit and will face court proceedings.
