The BRS leaders in Hyderabad are upset about new laws from the Centre that they say violate people’s rights. They plan to file petitions in the Supreme Court against these laws. Former MP B Vinod Kumar spoke at a press conference and criticized the Centre for introducing new laws on July 1 that change existing laws like the Criminal Procedure Code, Indian Penal Code, and Indian Evidence Act.

Vinod Kumar mentioned that these laws have been in place since independence, and the changes made by the Centre do not respect fundamental rights. He said that the Centre ignored suggestions made by the Standing Committee of Parliament when passing the new laws, even expelling around 160 MPs during the process.

The BRS leader highlighted that senior lawyers across the country are against the new laws. He criticized the Centre for introducing Acts in Hindi and Sanskrit instead of English, which goes against the Constitution. The Bar Council of India has also instructed bar associations not to allow protests by lawyers regarding these new laws.

Kumar expressed concerns about the impact of these new Acts on farmers and victims of crimes. He mentioned issues like preliminary inquiries without filing an FIR and misuse of station bail by SHOs. He believes that the new laws undermine the legal system and democratic processes of the country.
