After the Congress government was formed, applications for Praja Palana were accepted to fulfill election promises. The government initially gave a one-week deadline for applications, but later announced that applications would be accepted once every four months in a cycle for those who missed the deadline or needed to make edits. However, due to delays in accepting applications, hundreds of people are waiting in queues every day.
In Jagtial district, Praja Palana applications were accepted from December 28 to January 6. The Gruha Jyoti Scheme is only available to those with a white ration card. Out of 1,91,598 people who applied for Praja Palana, 1,71,183 have benefited from Gruha Jyoti in June. Some consumers are facing difficulties because they are not able to access the Gruha Jyoti scheme even if their consumption is within 200 units. The lack of an edit option on the computer system is causing problems for beneficiaries of the scheme.
The state government implemented a free electricity program, but mistakes in registration for Praja Palana have led to eligible consumers missing out on benefits. Despite receiving complaints about the Gruha Jyoti scheme, officials have not taken action. They have suggested that providing an edit option at MPDO and municipal offices could help solve the issue.
Gruha Jyoti was also intended to benefit rental residents, but problems arose when people moved to new residences. Owners of previous households were still eligible for benefits, while residents were unable to add a new address due to the lack of an edit option. Residents of Jagtial have expressed their concerns about these issues to The Hans India.
One resident, Bingi Laxman, shared his frustration over not receiving benefits from Gruha Jyoti despite applying during the Praja Palana in January. Another resident, MD Yusuf, has been seeking benefits for three months but has not been successful due to the lack of an edit option. Both residents are calling on the government to provide the necessary edits and ensure that eligible individuals receive the benefits they are entitled to.
