Speculations about a cabinet expansion in Hyderabad are not likely to happen until the end of July. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had planned to add new ministers after the Lok Sabha elections, but the inauspicious Ashada Masam, which started on June 23, is causing a delay.
The Chief Minister had discussed the expansion with the party high command in Delhi. Several leaders, including Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy and other senior Congress members, are vying for ministerial positions in the cabinet. The high command has approved Revanth Reddy to fill six berths while considering caste equations.
Due to tough competition among senior leaders, the Chief Minister is taking time to finalize the names of the new ministers. The cabinet expansion is not expected until the end of July, as the Chief Minister is focusing on budget preparations for the upcoming financial year.
Revanth Reddy is overseeing key departments like Municipal Administration, Education, Home, Commercial Taxes, and Stamps and Registrations. He will be making decisions on budget allocations for education and municipal administration, as well as setting revenue targets for the current financial year.
