Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy is considering whether or not to attend a hearing before the Justice L Narsimha Reddy Commission investigating power-purchase agreements. The Commission has summoned him to appear on Monday. Sources say he is weighing two options: appearing before the Commission and using a provision to cross-question the Commission, or skipping the hearing like BRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao did.
Jagadish Reddy received a letter from the Commission asking for his opinion on statements made by those already examined. He plans to provide information he has and highlight mistakes made by previous statements. He also believes the Commission should inquire with former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh.
The NGT has issued a stay on the ERC, and Reddy questions if the Commission will inquire with the NGT. He believes all those involved in giving environmental clearances should also be called for investigation for a comprehensive inquiry. Reddy also wants the Commission to reveal who alleged a loss of Rs 6,000 crore to the exchequer.
