BRS Corporators in Warangal are trying to remove Mayor Gundu Sudharani by proposing a no-confidence motion. This plan has been in the works since the BRS lost the Assembly elections, but the rule stating that a minimum of three years in office is needed to propose a no-confidence motion has been a hurdle.
Sudharani switched to the Congress party to protect her position, but the threat from the BRS and BJP leaders still remains. The two parties met to discuss the numbers needed to propose the motion, which requires the support of at least 38 members.
Former MLAs D Vinay Bhaskar, Nannapuneni Narender, and Challa Dharma Reddy met to strategize gaining the necessary support. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy also intervened, urging Congress MLAs to prevent the BRS and BJP’s efforts to remove Sudharani.
There are rumors that Abhinav Bhaskar, a Corporator who recently switched from the BRS to the BJP, could become the new Mayor if the BRS-BJP alliance successfully removes Sudharani.
