    AP Government Renames Welfare Schemes, Eliminates ‘Jagan’ and ‘YSR’ Prefixes

    The Andhra Pradesh Government, under Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, has renamed six welfare schemes in the Social Welfare Department. Four of these schemes previously had ‘Jagan’ in their names, after former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The other two had ‘YSR’ in their names, after former Chief Minister Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

    The renamed schemes are as follows: Jagananna Vidya Deevena is now Post Matric Scholarships (RTF), Jagananna Vasathi Deevena is now Post Matric Scholarships (MTF), Jagananna Videshi Vidya Deevena for SCs is now Ambedkar Overseas Vidya Nidhi (AOVN), YSR Kalyana Masthu is now Chandranna Pelli Kanuka, YSR Vidyonnathi is now NTR Vidyonnathi, and Jagananna Civil Services Protsahakam (JCSP) is now Incentives for Civil Services Examination.

    The ‘Chandranna’ prefix now refers to Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, while ‘NTR’ refers to the Telugu Desam Party founder and former Chief Minister.
