Amrapali Kata, the acting commissioner of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, has removed the zonal commissioner of GHMC Khairatabad, Bhorkhade Hemanth Sahadeorao, from his position. This decision was made after Sahadeorao ordered the demolition of alleged illegal structures, including a shed, near the Lotus Pond in Film Nagar without permission.
Sahadeorao has been transferred to the General Administration Department for carrying out the demolitions without consulting higher authorities. The orders from the GHMC commissioner state that he is relieved from his duties with immediate effect and must report to the GAD in Hyderabad.
Over the weekend, GHMC officials, with police support, tore down the structures that were built for security purposes. This action came shortly after the YSRCP, led by former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, lost power in the recent elections in Andhra Pradesh.
