Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development Ponguru Narayana announced that the first phase of development works in Amaravati, the state capital, will be finished in the next two and a half years. He officially started his role as the State Municipal and Urban Development Minister at the State Secretariat in Velagapudi on Sunday morning.

Narayana highlighted that Amaravati was designed to become one of the top five capitals globally, with input from the Singapore Government to ensure financial growth across all state districts. The initial construction phase included buildings for government officials and employees, as well as infrastructure covering a significant portion of the capital area.

He noted that construction projects totaling Rs. 48 crore were initiated through tenders, with Rs. 9 crore already spent. The progress on buildings for ministers, secretaries, officers, and staff residences was reported at 90% completion. The land pooling process initiated by farmers in early 2015 also facilitated the capital’s development without any legal disputes.
