The Justice Narasimha Reddy Commission is investigating the power purchase agreements (PPAs) and the construction of Bhadradri and Yadadri thermal power projects. Former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has been asked to submit his reply by June 15.

KCR is seeking advice from legal experts on how to respond to the commission’s notice. It is unclear whether he will submit his reply by the deadline.

If KCR does not respond by Saturday, the commission may issue summons for him to appear in person. The investigation is focusing on alleged irregularities in the PPAs signed with the Chhattisgarh government in 2015.

Former Energy Secretary Arvind Kumar raised concerns about the power purchase agreement and its financial impact on the state. The commission is looking into KCR’s influence on the State Electricity Regulatory Commission (ERC) despite objections from Arvind Kumar.

The commission is also investigating the construction of Yadadri and Bhadradri thermal plants, as well as contracts awarded to BHEL. Former energy officials, including D Prabhakara Rao, have already been questioned. The role of KCR and other BRS leaders in the agreements with Chhattisgarh is also being examined.
