Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu stated that by August 15, the State government will provide Godavari water to 1.2 lakh acres through the completion of Enkoor Link Canal. He was joined by Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, and Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao for a review at the Sitarama project in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district.
During the visit, they inspected the progress of the project, including the Pump Houses and power supply. Bhatti Vikramarka criticized the previous government for the alleged misuse of public funds in the Sitarama project, which was originally planned to be completed at a much lower cost.
He emphasized the need for high-level reviews of pending projects to speed up completion and called for a detailed examination of the funds allocated to the Sitarama project. The renaming of Enkoor Link Canal to Rajiv Canal was also announced, along with plans to start work on the distribution package for Sitarama Lift Irrigation Pump Houses.
Following Bhatti Vikramarka’s request, funds were allocated for the power supply needed for the pump trial run, which will soon be initiated. The focus remains on completing the Enkoor Link Canal and connecting the Sitarama project to NSPL canal for efficient water distribution.
