The closure of a parallel road at Karkhana in Hyderabad for the past six months has caused problems for commuters using the Secunderabad Club road and its connecting stretches. There have been numerous accidents reported in the area, prompting locals to urge officials of Secunderabad Cantonment to reopen and widen the road within Cantonment limits.

Locals have noted that the closure of the road at Karkhana has led to increased traffic flow, making the already narrow lanes in Cantonment, especially Secunderabad Club Road, even more challenging for commuters. A major accident recently occurred, and several minor and major accidents have taken place in the past month due to the closure of the road. This situation forces commuters to take long detours, causing confusion.

Residents like Telukunta Satish Gupta have expressed frustration with the situation, as they have been asking SCB officials to remove the barricade. Raj Sekhar, another local, highlighted that while it is common for roads in Cantonment to close without notification, commuters in this area face daily hardships and long waits. They are urging officials to widen and reopen the road promptly.

Surprisingly, officials of Secunderabad Cantonment claim to be unaware of the road closure issue at Karkhana. However, a senior officer at SCB mentioned that the widening of Secunderabad Club Road is part of an elevated skyway plan, with surveys currently underway and acquisition proceedings set to begin. The plan includes widening approximately 30 meters of road on both sides for better traffic flow.
