Naveen Kumar Reddy, the BRS candidate, won the Mahabubnagar Local Bodies constituency MLC bypoll by securing 762 votes. He defeated his Congress rival, Manne Jeevan Reddy, by over 109 votes. Out of 1,439 total voters, 1,437 cast their votes, with 1,416 being valid. The quota fixed for the election was 709.

The bypoll was held because the incumbent MLC, Kasireddy Narayana Reddy, resigned after winning the Kalwakurthy seat during the 2023 Assembly elections on a Congress ticket. The counting process took place in Mahbubnagar on Sunday for the poll that occurred on March 28.

BRS working president KT Rama Rao and other party members thanked the voters of Mahabubnagar Local Bodies constituency. They saw this victory as a sign of changing political dynamics in the State. KTR highlighted the electorate’s discontent with the ruling party and their confidence in BRS’s vision for Telangana.

KTR expressed pride in winning the MLC seat in the Chief Minister’s home district and mentioned that this victory would lead to more successes in the future. On the other hand, the ruling Congress claimed a ‘moral victory’ despite losing. They alleged cross-voting and believed that BRS would become insignificant after the Lok Sabha results.

Minister Jupally Krishna Rao suggested that Congress would continue to win in future elections and that BRS was on its way to becoming irrelevant.
