In Hyderabad, the district educational officer, R Rohini, has ordered that private schools cannot make parents buy uniforms and other items directly from the school. Many schools have already sold these items at high prices, according to parents.
The order states that schools in Hyderabad cannot sell uniforms, shoes, belts, or other items anymore. If schools sell books or stationery, they must do so without making a profit. This is to protect parents from unfair charges for school supplies.
DEOs will form committees to make sure private schools in Hyderabad do not sell uniforms or other items on campus. The Hyderabad School Parents Association says most books have already been sold at double prices in CBSE and ICSE schools.
Some people wonder why this order only applies to private schools in Hyderabad and not the entire state of Telangana.
