In Telangana, government orders were issued to reduce the heavy burden of school bags on students, but it seems like these orders are not being followed properly. The orders were meant to address the issue of students carrying bags that were too heavy, causing potential harm to their health.

The government orders, G.O.Ms.No. 22 of July 18, 2017 and G.O.Ms.No.17 of May 14, 2005, were issued to regulate the weight of school bags for children attending all types of schools in the state. The goal was to ensure that students were not carrying excessive weight in their bags, which could lead to physical problems like damage to their backs and knees.

The heavy bags were a result of students carrying textbooks, guides, notebooks, and other items to school every day. The government orders specified weight limits for different classes, ranging from 1.5 kg for Classes I and II to 5 kg for Class X. Schools were instructed to inform students and parents about these regulations and ensure they were followed.

Teachers were also given guidelines on how to help students manage their bags, including informing them in advance about which books to bring each day. Parents were advised on how to help their children carry their bags properly, such as using both straps and keeping the bag balanced while waiting for transportation.

Overall, the government orders were aimed at reducing the physical strain on students caused by heavy school bags, but it is important for schools, teachers, and parents to work together to ensure these regulations are implemented effectively.
