    Six officials from the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) have been suspended after a man died from suspected water contamination in the Mughalrajapuram area. Two other officers have also been issued show-cause notices.

    A 47-year-old man named Vallur Durga Rao, who lived on Patamatvari Street, passed away after showing symptoms of water contamination. His family said he started vomiting and had diarrhea on Monday morning. Eight others with similar symptoms have been admitted to Vijayawada Government General Hospital.

    A total of 24 people are currently receiving treatment at the hospital, leading to the setup of a special medical camp in Mughalrajapuram. Dr. Suhasini, the NTR District Medical and Health Officer, is overseeing the situation at the camp and has reported cases of diarrhea in the area since Monday.

    Residents have filed complaints about the contaminated water, prompting authorities to stop the water supply to the affected area. Drinking water is now being provided through water tankers, and samples of water and stool have been collected for laboratory analysis. The Government General Hospital (GGH) has set up a 30-bed ward for those affected.

    Officials have sent the water for testing and warned residents not to drink water from the pipeline.
