The Task Force team of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and GHMC Food Safety officers conducted inspections at warehouses and restaurants in Hyderabad. The team suspended the licence of the Big Basket warehouse located in Masjid Banda, Kondapur due to irregularities. They found expired food items, oil leakage, and food contamination.
Specifically, the officers discovered expired chicken masala, chicken sausages, pizza cheese, paneer, ice cream, almond fudge, as well as improper storage of milk bottles, thick shake bottles, and sting tins at the Big Basket warehouse. Notices were issued and the warehouse’s licence was suspended until further notice.
In another inspection at Rameshwaram Cafe and Baahubali Kitchen in Madhapur, violations were found. At Rameshwaram Cafe, expired urad dal, Nandini Curd, and milk were discovered. Additionally, improperly labelled raw rice, white lobia, and jaggery were seized. The premises lacked proper lid covers on dustbins and medical fitness certificates for food handlers.
At Baahubali Kitchen, a heavy cockroach infestation was observed in the kitchen and storeroom. Synthetic food colours were found and discarded. The kitchen was unhygienic with water stagnation in the cleaning area. Pest control records and medical fitness certificates were missing, along with the absent display of the FSSAI licence.
