A farmer awareness conference was held in Konkala village under Vaddepalli mandal. Kisan District President Enumula Nagaraju spoke at the event, highlighting the importance of banning fake seeds and taking action against dealers who sell seeds at high prices. The conference was organized following the instructions of former MLA Dr. S.A. Sampath Kumar.
The conference was attended by Agriculture Officer Radha and AEO Vimala. Nagaraju reiterated the need to crack down on fake seeds and dealers selling them at inflated prices. He mentioned an instance where a US company’s variety 7067 seeds, normally priced at Rs. 864, were being sold for Rs. 1500 to Rs. 1800 by some dealers.
Despite the start of the kharif season, there was a shortage of the 7067 seeds in the market. When a complaint was made, Radha intervened and ensured that farmers were provided with the seeds at the correct market price. The issue of stock availability for Nuziveedu company’s Adhya variety was also raised, with instructions given to officials to check billing practices.
In a press conference, Nagaraju urged farmers to report any instances of high prices to mandal or district officials. The meeting was attended by various local leaders including Mandal Party President Ramakrishna Reddy, Konkala Sarpanch Bathukanna, and other members of the farming community.
