The Telangana State government’s decision to establish a school fee regulatory committee in the 2025–26 academic year has left many parents disappointed. They are urging the government to issue an ordinance for the upcoming 2024–25 academic year to regulate tuition fees and other charges imposed by private schools across the State.
Parents feel that they will not get any relief even in the upcoming academic year. They believe that if the State government prevents private schools from increasing fees until a committee is formed, it will help regulate unnecessary charges and ensure quality education remains accessible to all.
Mohammed Abid Ali, a parent, expressed disappointment, stating that they were expecting the regulatory committee to be established this academic year instead of waiting until 2025–26. G Murali, a member of the Hyderabad School Parents Association, voiced frustration with the Education department’s lack of action on the issue.
Despite ongoing efforts and requests for fee regulation, no concrete solution has been provided. Kishore, another parent, expressed disappointment with the government’s decision on fee regulation, especially as admissions for the upcoming academic year are still ongoing. He believes the government should implement a rule preventing fee hikes for the 2024–25 academic year.
