TS BJLP leader Aleti Maheshwar Reddy criticized Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy for avoiding questions about paddy procurement. He questioned if filing complaints with the police is now the norm for raising issues as an Opposition leader. Reddy expressed readiness for a debate on corruption in the Civil Supplies department and urged the government to investigate corruption by a retired HC judge.

Reddy accused the government of dodging accountability by filing cases instead of addressing irregularities. He highlighted discrepancies in the paddy procurement process, including suspicious activities involving contractors from Punjab and Haryana. Reddy also raised concerns about meetings with rice millers during the election period and questioned the sudden issuance of guidelines and tenders.

The BJLP leader emphasized that his aim is to address issues responsibly, not target individuals. He demanded transparency regarding additional charges imposed on millers and criticized the sale of rice at different prices. Reddy called for public disclosure of any unethical practices at Jalasaudha and questioned the lack of consequences for missed deadlines in rice procurement.

Reddy further questioned the rationale behind selling rice at lower prices only to repurchase it at higher rates for mid-day meal programs. He urged authorities to clarify discrepancies in rice pricing and procurement processes.
