The Forum for Good Governance (FGG) has asked Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to look into pending Vigilance and Enforcement cases, ensure quick action is taken, and hold accountable those who have not acted promptly on reports. The V & E department investigates serious misconduct by government employees and corruption issues. It alerts departments about potential irregularities, conducts assessments, and provides improvement suggestions. Essentially, V&E acts as the government’s eyes and ears.

Over the past decade, V&E has looked into 1,230 corruption cases, submitted 768 assessment reports, issued 1,215 alerts, and provided 123 improvement suggestions. However, after sending reports to the government, no further action has been taken. This lack of follow-up allows departments to disregard V&E reports, leading to potential irregularities. In some cases, reports are simply sent to department heads without any action being taken.

V&E alerts departments about possible irregularities, but often these warnings are ignored, allowing corruption to continue unchecked. FGG filed an RTI application to inquire about the handling of V&E cases in the Secretariat but was told the information was unavailable. This lack of action is undermining the efforts of V&E and enabling corrupt practices to persist.

Failure to act on V&E reports means officials involved in corruption may escape punishment, fostering a culture of impunity. Employees are openly demanding bribes without fear of consequences, leading to widespread corruption in the administration. Reddy highlighted how bribe amounts in HMDA vary based on land value, eroding public trust in government institutions.
