    Three committee members from the CPI-Maoist party surrender, including one village in-charge

    In Bhadradri Kothagudem District, three individuals surrendered to the authorities. Etoorunaga Ram, also known as Konasi Ganga or Mahesh or Janardhan, aged 30, from Nimmalaguda, Kistaram Police Station. Sodi Ungi, wife of Mahesh, aged 28 from Nimmalguda, Kishtaram Police Station. Kaluma Budra, aged 35, DAKMS Incharge from Putta Padu, Kishtaram Police Station, Sukuma District Chhattisgarh surrendered.

    Konasi Ganga joined the Maoist party in 2009 and became a member of the Ethurunagaram-Mahadevpur area committee. Sodi Ungi joined the Maoist party in 2019 and later married Konasi Ganga. Not agreeing with the Maoist party’s methods, she decided to surrender along with her husband. Kaluma Budra joined the Maoist party in 2002 and worked as an artist and singer in Chaitanya Natyamandali for 10 years before becoming the president of Puttapadu village DAKMS.

    The district police organized a counseling program called “Operation Cheedhu” to help members of the force who wanted to surrender due to harassment by Maoist party leaders. The police are working to support the surrendered personnel with livelihood and rehabilitation. The program was attended by District SP Rohit Raj, Bhadrachalam ASP Paritosh Pankaj IPS, and CRPF officials.

    The individuals who surrendered will receive rewards from the government to help them start a new life. The authorities are also working to help family members of those still involved in the Maoist party leave and surrender.
