The BJP leader A Maheshwar Reddy accused the Congress government of deceiving farmers in Telangana. He claimed that farmers were left waiting at procurement centers with no response from the government.

During a press conference, Maheshwar Reddy expressed that people were frustrated with the current government and felt let down. For the past 45 days, farmers have stored their harvested grain in market yards, hoping for government procurement which has not been coming through in a timely manner.

Farmers have been struggling to protect their grain from untimely rains and there have even been reports of farmers losing their lives due to lightning strikes. Despite raising concerns to Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, no action has been taken.

The government initially promised a bonus of Rs 500 per quintal but later changed its stance, only offering the bonus for fine quality rice. Maheshwar Reddy criticized the appointment of Uttam Kumar Reddy, who lacks agricultural knowledge, as Civil Supplies Minister. He also disputed the government’s claim of purchasing 30 lakh tonnes of grain, calling it misleading.
