The villagers of Yedire in Mahabubnagar have been protesting for 65 days against the establishment of the Amar Raja Battery company. They are worried about pollution and health problems from the company’s operations.

Residents of Yedire, Ambatpally, and nearby areas have been protesting continuously, expressing their concerns to officials and politicians. The village of Yedire even boycotted the Parliamentary elections to demand that the government cancel the company’s permissions. Protester Venkataiah mentioned broken promises about an IT tower corridor and job opportunities for locals, as well as inadequate compensation for farmers who gave up their land.

Villagers are worried about the use of dangerous chemicals like lithium and lead in battery production, fearing that improper disposal could cause cancer. They are determined to keep protesting until the government stops the company’s construction.

Even after talking to the district collector, villagers feel ignored, with police and officials threatening legal action against protesters. The villagers are standing firm in their opposition to the factory, pointing out the gap between government promises and the reality for local residents.
